Curried baked beans

This really is spiced up baked beans (whichever brand you like). I remember my nephew being quite disappointed when he discovered baked beans did not come out of the tin this way….. however, with minimal effort you can make this delicious alternative. We love to eat them on toast with melted cheese on top!

PREP TIME 15 minutes

COOK TIME 30 minutes



  • 1 large tin baked beans
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup frozen sweetcorn

2 Green chillies finely chopped

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 50ml oil


Heat the oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds. Let them splutter for a few seconds before adding the onions and green chilli.

Let these cook until they are soft and golden.

Pour in the baked beans, sweetcorn, salt and turmeric and simmer for about 10 minutes.
